Giving Back to Our Community

A Commitment To The Community

The fight for justice and safety doesn’t stop when the workday ends. Passionate about helping those in the community, the attorneys at Matthews Injury Law support a number of local causes that are close to their hearts.

Jackson In Action

The Jackson in Action 83 Foundation has made it their mission to provide support to military families, with an emphasis on the educational, emotional and physical health of children. Vincent Jackson of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, together with his wife Lindsey Jackson, started this initiative in 2012. JIA83 has been enriching the lives of children of deployed military members ever since. Marc Matthews, attorney, and owner of Matthews Injury Law, holds our nation’s military near and dear to his heart. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Jackson in Action 83 Foundation since 2014. Marc regularly attends and volunteers at events throughout the year, including the annual Military Moms Baby Shower. In total over five years, the Jackson in Action 83 Foundation has gifted more than $411,000 in items to young military families to help them welcome their newborn babies. Matthews Injury Law is a regular sponsor of the event. “The Jackson in Action 83 Foundation graciously supports our military community, with a focus on supporting the entire military family as a whole. I truly appreciate the time I spend with charities and nonprofits because I get to work with positive people trying to make our local communities better for everyone” said Marc.

Sidewalk Stompers

As an injury attorney and father of two himself, Marc Matthews vehemently fights for safety on a daily basis. Walking with his kids to school, he saw a need to have safer routes for children trying to get to school. He proudly supports Sidewalk Stompers – a foundation committed to providing safer crosswalks and sidewalks in our communities, particularly kids just trying to get to school safely. Projects like “Walk to School Wednesdays” and volunteer programs geared towards helping children cross crosswalks are some of the ways they are fighting to make Bay area communities safer for everyone. According to Marc, “Sidewalk Stompers is personal to me, as a father of young children whose kids walk to school every day. We are working to create safer crosswalks and sidewalks in our communities, particularly for kids just trying to get to school safely.”

Ryan Nece Foundation

The teens in our communities are the leaders of tomorrow, and the Ryan Nece Foundation empowers them with the tools for success. By embracing the Power of Giving, RNF creates opportunities for teenagers through enriching volunteer and leadership programs. After being invited to join the Board of Directors in 2014, Marc Matthews, in 2021, proudly served his third term as Chairman of the Board. In addition to engaging in numerous volunteer and community leadership events throughout the year, the students in the RNF Student Service Program (as well as founder Ryan Nece and numerous board members including Marc) spend a week every year serving communities devastated by natural catastrophes, such as Hurricane Irma. In 2019, in addition to volunteering and supporting events throughout the year, Matthews Injury Law sponsored care packages to be sent to the Student Service Program alumni preparing for their college final exams. “The Ryan Nece Foundation is great because our mission is bigger picture, focusing on the Power of Giving. We are working to empower student leaders to give back to their communities, now and in the future” said Marc.

Hillsborough County Anti-Bullying Award

Matthews Injury Law is a proud sponsor of the Hillsborough County Anti-Bullying Award. Each year, Hillsborough County recognizes local students who stand up for their fellow classmates and take steps to stomp out bullying in our local schools. Inspired by a client – a young mother whose daughter was severely bullied resulting in over $100,000.00 in medical bills – Marc Matthews not only took on the case, but he decided to give back in the hopes of inspiring others to stand up for what is right.

Giving Back Is A Team Effort
